British sisters Clare and Rebecca Hopkins founded Balance Me in 2005 after they left their respective corporate business careers behind and retrained in the holistic field in their quest for a better work-life balance. They were making products in their kitchen when Topshop approached them to purchase 200 skin brightening exfoliating body polishes for their VIPS. Since then, they have continued to challenge what natural beauty stands for in the UK and have created products that wouldn’t have been possible a few years ago.

Balance Me uses innovative naturally active botanicals, hi-tech natural formulations and pure grade essential oils to deliver a skincare range that offers the customer sophisticated textures and aromatherapy-inspired exquisite active aromas that can be used daily across all skin types.

Balance Me skincare has enjoyed a wealth of industry and media accolades, is favoured by many high profile opinion formers and A-list celebrities, has appeared on the covers of several million women’s consumer magazines and is available in hundreds of leading UK high street retailers and independent stockists, internationally and on-line.

  1. How did the concept of Balance Me come about?

Our quest for natural, pro-age skincare that we wanted to use on our own skin and our families’ started when we left behind careers in corporate beauty and management consultancy to retrain in reflexology and yoga. We spotted a gap in the market for a brand that focused on wellbeing, as well as results and this inspired us to create Balance Me.

  1. What makes Balance Me so different to the competition/other products on the market? 

We have created products that we wanted to use on our own skin and the product range has subsequently grown up with us. Now that we are a bit older, our skin has changed and we have recently launched our Collagen Boost range of products to address these new concerns. This innovative range harnesses a sophisticated, natural peptide complex designed to boost collagen and elastin production within the skin cells. We are also very proud to be British brand and ensure that all of our products are manufactured here in the UK.

  1. What has been your career highlight to date?

We celebrated 10 years of Balance Me last year, which was a wonderful achievement! Throughout this time we’ve been lucky enough to receive fantastic endorsements from the beauty press, celebrities and key influencers, and we have now won over 40 industry awards, which is always a cause for celebration. You may not think it but some of our proudest moments are when a customer gets in touch to tell us how well a product has worked for their skin. It's important to appreciate the big and little achievements!

  1. What are your ambitions for the brand?

Skincare is our passion; we are confident that our products contain everything your skin might need and nothing it doesn’t. We truly believe in solving skin concerns without creating others which is why we select only the finest natural ingredients and are completely honest about what we use in our formulas. We have big plans to grow the brand internationally and have some exciting launch plans in the pipeline! We are launching a Wellbeing collection of products later in 2016 that will take us back to our holistic roots and we have just finished working on our 2016 Christmas packaging which is super bright and colourful - we are very proud of it!

  1. What do you do outside of work to help ‘Balance’ your lifestyles?

We’re both mothers and spending time with family is hugely important to us. It’s great that we get to work together, doing what we love but we also recognize the importance to step away from work and enjoy time with our family. Making time for yourself is also key to finding balance and we each have our own ways to indulge, whether that’s a yoga class, a run around a London park or baking with our children we’ll always find sometime to treat ourselves.
